EventMobi’s 150 Days of Action: Natalina’s Volunteer Story with Enactus Canada

Volunteering with 150 Days of Action

I’m very thankful for companies such as EventMobi that launch initiatives like the 150 Days of Action program. This program was launched to give employees the time and opportunity to give back to causes that we care about. And since the launch of the program last year, I knew exactly what I wanted to contribute my volunteer time towards.

What is Enactus?

Enactus is a worldwide organization comprised of students and business leaders that take action in creating social enterprises tackling social, environmental and economic issues in our communities.

Every spring, Enactus Canada runs the National Exposition, bringing together over 75 schools across Canada to showcase the impact they’ve made to a panel of judges. Judges then evaluate which team created the greatest impact socially, economically and environmentally, and awards them with the national title where they move on to compete at the Enactus World Cup in the fall as Team Canada against the top schools in the world.

We’re talking about over 30 teams representing their countries – how cool is that? Yes – it’s a competition where all students are vying for a national title. But at the end of the day, as Enactus says, “When we compete to improve lives, we all win.”

Throughout my entire university career, I dedicated countless hours to this organization to make a difference and grow as a business leader. As a recent graduate and alumni of the Enactus University of Ottawa team, I was ecstatic to find out that my workplace provides volunteer days to support an initiative that is so important to me, and I knew that the Enactus Canada National Exposition was perfect.

How Did I Help?

Enactus teams are sorted into 10 different leagues, comprised of 6-7 schools. One by one, teams present their 17-minute presentation showcasing their work and impact for the year, followed by 5-minutes of Q&A by the judges.

As a League Coordinator, I trained and managed the judges, facilitated the flow and structure of the presentations ensuring everything ran smoothly and timely, and helped tally the scores and rankings to determine which teams would advance to the semi-final and final rounds of the competition.

This was an awesome opportunity to assist the Enactus Canada staff as well as learn about the projects and businesses that undergraduate students have started to create a better, more sustainable world.

EventMobi’s Impact

The Enactus Canada National Exposition requires lots of scheduling and organizing. I’m sure you can imagine what it’s like to coordinate roughly 1,000 students and hundreds of judges and special guests – so Enactus Canada worked with EventMobi to make the competition experience that much better!

With the scheduling features of the EventMobi app, the Enactus Canada team was able to provide attendees with the full competition schedule, respective room locations and maps, and important documents that would have otherwise been printed and handed out.

With the alerts feature, the organizers were able to notify attendees of important events taking place as well as room changes and announcements. Being part of the EventMobi team and seeing the app in action at Enactus Nationals made this an exceptional experience.

Final Remarks

Enactus truly holds a special place in my heart and I am so thankful to have been able to attend the National Exposition as a volunteer and alumni. Being empowered by EventMobi to get out of the office and give back to the community means a lot and is something I fully appreciate in a workplace.

My fellow Mobiers, if you’re reading this – I urge you to find that special cause you love and take the time to volunteer because EventMobi strongly supports you!
